Shillong is a hill station situated in north-eastern part of India and Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya.

Meghalaya means the abode of clouds and this is one of the smallest states in India.

During the British period, Shillong was known as Yeddo and the name of Shillong was adopted later due to its location below Shillong peak.

Shillong become the capital of Meghalaya in 1972.
