Given:

Distance from the monument = 42m

To find:

Angle of elevation

Solution:

Here, we need to find the angle of elevation.

tan Ф = \frac{opp}{adj}

In the given question, the opposite side and the adjacent sides are same.

Opposite side = Adjacent side = 42m

Now, we will put the values in the tan Ф and find the value.

tan Ф = \frac{42}{42}

Now, we will cancel the terms.

tan Ф = 1

∴tan Ф = tan 1

tan Ф = 45°

The angle of elevation is 45°

Correct question:-

What is the angle of elevation if they are standing at a distance of 42m away from the monument which is 42m tall?

The angle of elevation will be 45° .

Step 1: Find the angle of elevation.

Given - Distance from the monument = 42m

Height of the monument = 42m

Angle of elevation is the angle formed by the observer when he observes the object from the horizontal plane.

We have to find angle of elevation by finding the value of θ from tanθ .

Let they make angle θ.

tan\theta = \frac{Perpendicular}{Base} = \frac{Height\ of\ the\ monument}{Distance\ from\ the\ monument}

So, tan\theta =\frac{42}{42}

tan\theta=1\\

\theta= tan^-^1(1)\\                                                         (\because tan45° =1)

\theta = 45°
