Angular Velocity = Angle Displaced per unit time

Taking the time to be 5 minutes.

Now time = 5 min which implies 300 seconds is the time period.

Now for 60 minutes, minute hand covers 360°, then for 5 minutes it would cover ?

⇒ 60 : 360 :: 5 : ?

⇒ 360 × 5 = 60 × x

⇒ 1800 / 60 = x

⇒ 30 = x

Hence the angle displaced is 30°

Hence Angular Velocity of the minute hand is:

⇒ 30° / 300 seconds

⇒ 1 / 10 = 0.1 degrees per second.
