We have:

[tex] \frac{4x}{6} + \frac{5x}{12} = \frac{9x + 31}{24} [/tex]

Hence we get:

\frac{16x+10x}{24} = \frac{9x+31}{24}

Cancel out common denominator, we have:

[tex]26x = 9x + 31 or x = 31 / 17[/tex]

taking LCM

then

(8x+5x)/12 = (9x+31)/24

 cross multiplication,

24(13x) = 12(9x+31)

312x= 108x+ 372

312x-108x= 372

204x= 372

x= 372/204

x= 93/51

x=31/17

rocka: The answer is 31/17
