(3y-1)² = 0

=> (3y-1)(3y-1)=0

Either

3y-1 = 0

=> 3y = 1

=> y = 1/3

Or

3y-1=0

=> 3y = 1

=> y = 1/3

Hope it helps.....

Square roots : A square root of a number x is a number y such that y² = x; in other words, a number y whose square is x. For example, 4 and −4 are square roots of 16, because 4² = ² = 16.

given,

(3y-1)² = 0

solution

(3y-1)² = 0

(3y-1)(3y-1)=0

3y-1 = 0

3y = 1

y = 1/3
