 \dfrac{y}{7}  +  \dfrac{y - 4}{3}  = 2

Taking the L. C. M of the denominator

 \implies \dfrac{3y + 7y - 28}{21}  = 2

\implies 3y + 7y - 28 = 2 \times 21

\implies 10y = 42 + 28

\implies 10y = 70

\implies y = 7
