Let velocity of mass m be V

x +y = length of the string = constant= c

now differentiating both sides,

dx/dt + dy/dt = dc/dt. [ dc/dt = 0]

=> v cos (60) + V = 0

=> V = - v*1/2. [ cos(60) = 1/2]

Therefore velocity of mass m wrt wedge is v/2. A negative sign represents the opposite direction of movement.
