To find :

The numbers so that after they are filled in the boxes , they fulfill all the equations .

Solution :

Let four variables be p , q , r and s .

in clockwise direction ,

p + q = 8    ......(i)

q + r = 8     ......(ii)

s - r = 6      .......(iii)

p + s = 13    .......(iv)

by solving the equations (i) and (ii) , we get ,

→ p = r  

using p=r in (iii) and (iv) , and solving it ,

s = 9.5

and , r = 3.5

as p = r , then , p = 3.5  

putting p = 3.5 in (i) ,

q = 4.5

p = 3.5 , q = 4.5 , r = 3.5 and s = 9.5 clockwise from top left corner according to viewer .
