Let one side of square = x

Area of square = x^2

Let radius of circle = r

Area of circle = πr^2

Given area of circle = π

Equating we get r^2=1. r=1, discard negative 1

Now diameter of circle is 2 which is also diagonal of inscribed square.

By Pythagoras theorem x^2+x^2=2^2

2x^2=4

x^2=2

Area of square = 2
