An acid is a substance which forms H+ ions as the only positive ion in aqueous solution.


An alkali is a substance which forms OH- ions as the only negative ion in aqueous solution.
A base is an insoluble hydroxide.

An acid is a substance that yields Hydrogen ions (H^+) in the form of Hydronium ions (H_3O^+) in an aqueous or H_2O solu^n

Whereas, a base is a substance that yields Hydroxide ions (OH^-) in an aqueous solu^n.

Alkalis are the type of bases that are soluble in water
