cell membrane is present in all cells (both plant and animal cells) but cell wall is present only in plants, bacteria, fungi and algae.

cell membrane is partially permeable but cell wall is completely permeable.

cell membrane does not contain cellulose but cell wall does.

cell wall is elastic but cell membrane is not.

cell wall controls the turgidity of a cell but cell membrane does not.
