what is the basis of caste system(3points)

Answer:
There are many theories which talk about the origin of the caste system in India.
I can list out some of them in brief:
1.As an extension of the ‘varna system’ where different part of a human’s body depicts a specific caste group and the direct the individual’s ‘life duties’.
2.Racial theory, this theory talks about how caste has a link to someone’s complexion. This become popular when the Aryan invasion was being talked about. Rig Vedic literature lays an emphasis on the significant differences between the Arya and non-Aryans, not only in their complexion but also in their speech, religious practices, and physical features. (Which is redundant now, I feel)
3.Occupational theory. People were divided into different caste groups due to their profession. It become so engrained in people’s mind that your profession was no longer associated with your caste but your caste started being associated with what you’re supposed to do for a living in the society.
4.Evolution theory. According to this theory, the caste system did not come into overnight. It is the result of a long long drawn process of socialisation of people. The ‘Karma’ and ‘Dharma’ explain the origin of caste system. Whereas the Karma theory holds the view that a man is born in a particular caste because of the result of his action in the previous incarnation, the theory of Dharma explains that a man who accepts the caste system and the principles of the caste to which he belongs, is living according to Dharma. Confirmation to one’s own dharma also remits on one’s birth in the rich high caste and violation gives a birth in a lower and poor caste.
The Indian society is divided into various sects and classes. Tis is because of the caste system which is prevalent in the country.
1. Discriminating and excluding the our caste groups.
2. Members of the same caste are not allowed to form different social community and marry in different caste group.
