Hi ,

Diameter of the circle ( d ) = 17 m

i ) Area of the circle = ( pi × d^2 )/4

= ( 3.14 × 17 × 17 ) /4

= 907.46 / 4

= 226.865

= 226.9 m^2 ( approximately )

Or

ii ) diameter of the circle = d = 17m

Radius of the circle (r )= d / 2 = 17/2 m

Area of the circle = pi × r^2

= 3.14 × ( 17 /2 )^2

= 3.14 × ( 17/ 2 ) × ( 17/ 2 )

= 907.46 / 4

= 226.865

= 226.9 m^2 ( approximately )

I hope this helps you.

Answer:

Option 3 - 226.9 m²

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Diameter of the circle 17 meters.

To find : What is the best approximation of the area of a circle with a diameter of 17 meters?

Solution :

The diameter d=17 m

The radius is r=\frac{d}{2}=\frac{17}{2}=8.5

The formula of area of circle is

A=\pi r^2

Substitute r=8.5 m and \pi=3.14

A=3.14\times (8.5)^2

A=3.14\times 72.25

A=226.865m^2

Approximately, Area of the circle is 226.9 m².

So, Option 3 is correct.
