the best form of government according to Machiavelli should have three ends namely to gain power,to retain power and to extend power.
The qualities that he urges a ruler to practise are quite new ,but very effective.
- Machiavelli does not emphaise on morality and ethical values. For being a ruler he is not much concerned with morality or religious values . In fact, he does not consider these factors as a way to be motivated and hence, does not give emphasis on moral values
- He speaks about three things which according to him every ruler should aim .They are- to gain power,to retain power and to extend power.
- a ruler should draw a line between religion and politics. a ruler should not be religious.
- According to him being kind towards the subject, being morally and ethically high and religious does not make a ruler great and ambitious. But rather a ruler should only concentrate on his own welfare and try to achieve his ends by any ways. Ijn according to reach his ends a ruler can do anything whether legal or illegal.
