Introduction to Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis is a process done by plants (as well as algae and some other prokaryotes) that converts energy from the sun into a usable form of energy, called glucose.

Animals rely on plants to carryout photosynthesis for both of these reasons.

Reactants and Products

There are three things needed for photosynthesis to occur. These are the reactants:

Carbon dioxide

Water

Sunlight

Two things are made by this process. The products are:

Glucose (sugar)

Oxygen
