There two basic points-

1.due to shortening or lengthening of the eyeball,owing to which the image in not formed properly on the retina.

2.due to a defect in the eye lens which does not allow the image to be formed properly

The causes of myopia are as follows :-

1. The lens has become too much curved .

2. The length of the eye ball increased from front to back .

→ The myopia is a defect of the human eye and is also termed as short/near sightedness .

→ This is an abnormal condition of the eye in which one cannot see distant objects clearly .

→ The image of the distant object is formed near the retina .

→ To correct the vision , a concave lens is used which has the power to diverge the light rays .

→ The concave lens diverges the image so that it forms on the retina .

→ The power of the lens used is mentioned in minus (-) .
