On moving from left to right in a period non metallic character increase because as we move from left to right in a period the nuclear charge increases. Due to the increase in nuclear charge, the valence electrons are pulled more strongly by the nucleus and it becomes more difficult for atoms to lose electrons.Hence non metallic character increases

Answer:

Explanation:

The elements which have a tendency to gain electrons are known as non-metals. ... Hence, the non-metallic character increases across a period. As we move down the group, the non-metallic character decreases due to increase in the atomic size.
