Initially,

Length of rectangle = l

Breath of rectangle = b

Area of rectangle = lb

Finally, length doubled and breath halved.

New length of rectangle = 2l

New breath of rectangle = b/2

New area of rectangle = 2l * b/2 = lb = Area of the rectangle initially.

Therefore, the area of the rectangle would not change.
