Philip sletherby was a man who thinks highly of himself and was going to visit Mrs. saltpen jago and she was a person of social importance in London. he had met her at small friendly luncheon party in which he want to impress salpan for his excellence hostess so that he could get position in Parliament through her.
Bertie was a stranger for him as he had met him in train where Berti e addressed him by telling that he is son of Mrs saltpan jago. his hair color was brown and face was bright. he had forgetten his coin purse at station only and want Philip to give him 2_3pounds as lone but sletherby doubt him bcz he thinks that he is trying to fool him as he overheard the conversation between sletherby and the club acquaintance

Bertie was a young man of about 22 with dark hair fresh complexion and a blend of smartness and desiree that is typical of a rambler he was a stranger to fill up the guy and he had forgotten his Converse at home so he wanted Philip to help him by lending him two pound ten or 3 for preference so that he could put his weekend bills of tickets
