Reactions in general can be broadly classified into two categories : physical and chemical. Chemical changes basically refer to the changes which result in alteration of the molecular arrangement of a substance. These changes are usually irreversible. Chemical changes often are accompanied by production of heat. Example would be burning of paper, where the paper turns into ash which cannot be directly reverted back to a paper.
