Multi party system- India is known for its multi party system. There are many parties in India ranging from 6 National Political parties and more than 45 state parties and many regional parties. The multiparty system in India make unique in the world.
Lack of Strong opposition Party- There is no strong opposition party in the Loksabha as Congress gets only 44 seats which even fails to get opposition political party in the 16th Loksabha elections. Although there are many regional parties including TMC, AIDMK, BJD etc.
Rapidly changing political structure- Every day we see something different happening inside India. India is diverse so many people don’t agree on the line of the government and this leads to new parties based on different ideologies like AAP in Delhi, Vikash Morcha in Bihar etc.
Dominant Position of The one single largest party system which now changes to BJP in the recent held 16th Loksabha election of 2014. The domination of congress in the earlier times since 1947 till 1989, 2004 to 2014.
System of recognition to political parties is very easy in India. Since December 1988, Election commission of India has got power as the Representations of people’s act 1951 under which a newly established party needs to be registered within 30 days of its formation.
Power sharing between National and Regional political parties- In the 1990’s there was a different kind of set up emerged in the national and state level political parties which is called as Coalition Party system which is prevalent in 2014 national elections (coalition among NDA members such as Shiv sena, BJP, RPI, LJP etc) and many state level elections such as Maharashtra (coalition between shiv sena & BJP), J& K (coalition between PDP & BJP).
Similar Ideological perceptions- In India the political parties are established basically on the similar ideologies of Roti, Kapada, Makan, Bijli, Pani etc i.e. Food, clothes, house, Water, electricity etc.
Existence of Many type of party’s system- In Indian political system one can find the rightist, centrist, leftist, regional, even local political parties to deal with the political issues. The ideologies of parties driven by different organization such as Rashtriya Swayamsevak sangh (RSS) for rightist party such as BJP.
