The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) decides appointments to several top posts under the Government of India. The committee is composed of the Prime Minister of India (who is the Chairman), the Minister of Home Affairs.
Functions of Cabinet Committees
To take decisions in respect of appointments specified in Annexure I to the First Schedule to the Government of India (Transaction of Business) Rules, 1961.
To take decisions in respect of empanelment specified in Annexure II to the First Schedule to the Government of India (Transaction of Business) Rules, 1961.
To decide all cases of disagreement relating to appointments between the Department or Ministry concerned and the Union Public Service Commission.
