The effect of electric current on neon lamp is as follows -

• In the closed tube of a neon lamp, there is some amount of neon gas which is a noble gas.

• This neon gas is chemically non-reactive in the normal condition but when we give electricity in the lamp, the neon particles gains energy and becomes ionised.

• These ionised neon particles, starts expelling the excessive amount of energy to re-gain the stable economic condition.

• This expelled energy by the neon particles is converted into light energy which is emitted by the neon lamps.
