Gastric juice consists of HCl,enzymes pepsinogen and protein which digests protein into peptides and peptones.HCl Kills potential Germs in the food .HCl also activates inactive enzymes Pepsinogen into Pepsin and Prorenin into Renin.Mucus of Gastric juice lubricates the food and also protects stomach lining from acid.
