Physical Features of India :-

India has a great diversity of land forms like mountains, plateaus, plains, valleys, hills, islands etc. The physical features of India are diverse and numerous and they compliment each other and contribute to India's natural resources. India may be divided broadly into six physical units. These are as follows.

1) The Great Northern Mountains
2) The Northern Plains
3) The Peninsular Plateau

6) The Islands

Contribution of India's Physical Features To India's Natural Resources :-

The physical features of India make our country rich in natural resources. The Northern Mountains are great sources of water and forest wealth. The Northern Indian Plains are the granaries of our country and make us self sufficient in production of food grains. The Peninsular Plateau is a storehouse of minerals and forests and also playing an important role in rapid industrialization of the country. The Island groups and the Coastal Region provide sites for tourism, fishing and port activities.
