The different languages and forms of art in India has a huge impact on its unity. We have all heard “united we stand and divided we fall”.
We Indians are the best portrayal of the same. We have 22 official languages and 1652 regional languages. We have so many different forms of art, music, dance and food.
From Madhu Bani to Tanjore, from Carnatic music to Qawwali, from Bharatanatyam to Kathak; every art form is evolved and beautiful.
When we travel through India or we move to a different city; we relate our language and culture to the locals.
We have similar culture with a slightly different outlook. For example, a tangy pani puri varies in taste and name from state to state. A humble idly again has numerous recipes and varieties.
We celebrate all the festivals with the same gusto. I grew up in a township, where we had people from every part of the country. So, we learnt kuchipudi and Bollywood dance, we ate parathas to pulav, we celebrated Diwali to Durga Puja.
We do not realize that politics is taking away the essence of being an Indian, living in a community.
We are more bonded then that we know. I hope we open our eyes to the politics that cause communal disharmony. Else, our diversity makes us the best united community that I know of.
