ANSWER :

(a) Maharishi Kanada contributed towards the atomic structure by telling that the the smallest part of any matter is 'anu' (now called as atom) which cannot be destroyed. He also said that anu can combine with others in suitable conditions and bring a chemical change to form dvyanuka (diatomic) or tryanuka (triatomic).

(b) Democritus was the 1st individual who called the 'anu' as 'atom'. It was taken from the Greek language 'atomos'.
