'T' is pronounced differently, depending on where it stands in a word.
1. If 'T' is at the beginning of a word, you pronounce it as a 'T', i.e, a strong and a sharp 'T' sound. Ex- Ten, try, Tim etc.
2. If 'T' is in the middle of a word, then it is pronounced as 'D', that is a softer 'T' sound. Ex- Letter, better, etc.
3. If 'T' comes after 'N', then it becomes silent. Ex- Interview is pronounced as (in'nerview)
If 'T' comes at the end of a word, it becomes almost silent again. Ex- Hot, brought, etc.
4.In some 'T' and 'N' combinations, i.e, suffixes like 'tten', 'tain' , etc, 'T' is held, for example- forgotten.
