The cumulative frequency for the second class or interval is the Frequency of the second class plus the cumulative frequency of the first interval/class (16 + 2 = 18). The above process continues through the last interval, at which point the cumulative total equals the sum of the frequencies (40)

The cf of the second class interval will be the addition of the 1st frequency and the frequency of the 2nd class.
For ex- If the frequency of 1st is 2 so cf will also be 2 but for 2nd if the frequency is 4 so cf will be 2+4=6
