Answer:

The dark struggle for India started from the revolt of 1857 and didn't end till 1942. In revolt of 1857 many people of India tried to finish British rule and wanted monarchic rule of kings and queens back in India. But this attempt was failed. Then the Indians got another chance in world War 1, when Britain's financial and military conditions were not good. But Britisher didn't end their rule india. But during the second world War Mohandas Karamchanddas gandhi( father of nation of india) was present in India and he did a lot of movements against the British, like salt satyagraha, non Co operation movement etc. And because of these movements the British government got weak and they had no choice but to give India independence. So they gave India its independence. Thank you.
