Cell is the fully functional independent living unit and building block of living organisms.

Inside a cell there are some membrane enclosed parts/compartments which can do some specific function.  The nucleus, mitochondria, reticulum, chloroplast are examples.  Each of them has a specific function that makes the cell live on.
