✒ Photo ▶ meaning Light.

✒ synthesis ▶ to put together to form a connected whole.

✒ plants put various chemicals together to form a connected whole (i,e food and byproducts)

✒ photosynthesis is done by all green plants and Cyanobacteria

Mechanism :-

✒ cells use carbon dioxide and energy from the sun to make suger molecules and oxygen. Then via respiration process, cells use glucose and oxygen to make energy rich carrier molecules like ATP and carbon dioxide is obtained as a waste product.

Photosynthesis in a nutshell (equation) :-

6CO₂ + 6H₂O + sunlight ➡ C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂
