Chandragupta Maurya(region: c.321-c 297 BCE) who was the founder of Maurya empire in an ancient India. he built one of the largest ever Empires on the Indian subcontinent and then, according tojain recources, he renounced it all and become a Jain Monk. historical text jain claim Chandragupta followed jainism by first renouncing his wealth and power, going away with jaina monks, and performing ritual peacefully welcoming death by fasting.
