find LCM,
=350

1/5
=1+70/350
=71/350

3/7
=3+50/350
=53/350

7/10
=7+35/350
=42/350
Now,
42/350<53/350<71/350
7/10<3/7<1/5
1/5>3/7>7/10

Concept:

LCM is a very basic concept of Mathematics. In basic arithmetic it's use is very wide, vast and good for doing sums that are in advanced level mathematics.

Given:

\frac{1}{5} \\ \frac{3}{7} \\ \frac{7}{10}

Find:

What is the descending order of these given fractions?

Solution:

Applying the concept of LCM first, we get the LCM of the denominators as,

5 \times 7 \times 10 = 350

Now the simplifying a bit more of the fractions,

\frac{1}{5} = \frac{1 + 70}{350} = \frac{71}{350} \\ \frac{3}{7} = \frac{3 + 50}{350} = \frac{53}{350} \\ \frac{7}{10} = \frac{7 + 35}{350} = \frac{42}{350}

therefore the descending order is,

\frac{71}{350} > \frac{53}{350} > \frac{42}{350}

Hence, The descending order of the fraction is

\frac{71}{350} > \frac{53}{350} > \frac{42}{350}
