Palampur is a village which is well connected with neighbouring villages and town. Raiganj is within 3 km of palampur and Shahpur is the nearest small town to palampur. There are 450 families in which 80 families are of upper caste. Farming is the main activity here. Beside farming , there are non farming activities also such as dairy , shops , etc.

Palampur is well connected with neighbouring villages and towns. Raiganj, a big village, is 3 kms from Palampur. An all weather road connects the village to Raiganj and further on to the nearest small town of Shahpur. Many kinds of transport are visible on this road starting from bullock carts, tongas, bogeys, loaded with jaggery and other commodities to motor vehicles like motorcycles, jeeps, tractors and trucks.

The village has about 450 families belonging to several different castes. The 80 upper caste families own the majority of land in the village.

Sources of irritation in Palampur are:c
Persian wheel are a source of irrigation in this part. Well is also a frequently used source of irrigation. Tube wells are also important sources of irrigation. Electricity helps in running these types of sources.
