what is the difference between 2o and o2

riya901: O2 is a molecule of oxygen and 2O would represent two individual oxygen atoms.
riya901: does that answer your question :)

Quite interesting question. Thanks for asking this question.
Difference between 2O and O2
2O means two atoms of oxygen whereas O2 means 1 molecule of Oxygen
( here atom does not have independent existence, where as atom can react with atom to form molecule)
Hope its clear.

2O represents two atoms of Oxygen.  This atom is unstable. And these atoms can react and form molecules. While O2 is one molecule of Oxygen and it is stable.

O2 is called diatomic element because it exists in its pure form as a molecule. Because of this reason element O is not present in the periodic table but the molecule O2 is present.
