Doctors’ best work in many cases, is to teach. Teach their patients, teach their students, teach themselves. There’s a not-so-secret knowledge that the human body will pretty much heal itself if given half a chance. Doctors try to optimize that chance, and then we must teach our patients how to maintain that optimization to heal quickly and well. It doesn’t work well if we don’t teach this effectively.
