Binding of a molecule or a particleon the surface of another substance is adsorption. Absorption on the other hand is the diffusion of a molecule throughout the bulk of a solid or liquid. Dissolution of any solute into a solvent is absorption and Activated charcoal is used to adsorb toxic molecules from waste water, which is an example of adsorption.

The process of deposition of substance over the surface of other substance is called adsorption.

The process in high molecules of a substance are evenly distributed in the bulk of substance is called absorption.
