Answer :-
→Difference between AC and DC.
AC stands for alternating current :- The current which changes its direction at every half rotation or period is known as A.C .
The frequency of A.C in India is 50 Hz.
DC stands for direct current :- The current which doesn't changes its direction is known as direct current or DC.
→What is the advantage of AC over DC .
- AC can be transmitted over long distance without much loss of energy.
- The shock of AC is repulsive in nature .
- AC can be generated easily .
- The cost of production of AC is low in comparison of DC.
→What need to be done to convert an AC generator to DC generator .
To convert AC generator in to DC generator we need to change Split rings in place of rings or commutator.
Commutator :- It is a device which change the direction of current flowing in circuit at every half rotation.
