What is the difference between acids and bases?

1. Acids are compounda that contain one or more hydrogen atoms and when dissolved in water produse hydronium ions as the only positively charged ions.
Bases are metallic oxides or metallic hydroxides or ammonium hydroxides that reacts with hydronium ions of acids to give salt and water only.
2. Acids turn blue listum red.
Bases turn red litmus blue.
3. Acids have ph less than 7. Acidity increses with decreasing number.
Base(Alkalis) have ph more than 7. Alkalinity increases with increase in number.
