1. Addition reaction is the reaction is the reaction in which the two or more reactants combine to form a single product.
2. Hydrogenation reaction is the reaction in which hydrogen adds to alkene system to give alkane.
3. The reaction is as follows:
H2C=CH2 + H2 → H3C-CH3
So, we can clearly see that addition and hydrogenation reaction are occuring, so hydrogenation is an addition reaction.
