what is the difference between an active smoker and a passive smoker?

Active smoker are the smoker who mostly addicted to smoking and do direct smoking

But passive smokers may or may not addicted to smoking,they don't do smoking directly.the smoke of cigratte enters their body from atmosphere released by active smokers and effect their health
