Baking sodahas only one ingredient: sodiumbicarbonate. Sodium bicarbonate is a base that reacts when it comes into contact with acids, like buttermilk, yogurt or vinegar.

Baking soda is general NAHCO3 whereas baking powder is treated with tartaric acid to produce co2 gas
