The very basis of a democracy is that all citizens are responsible for running the government through their elected representatives. In such a system, it is important to behave like a well-informed and responsible person rather than as someone who does as he wishes.
When acting responsible, we ensure that the guardians of the law also follow our example and protect it properly without abusing their powers.
However, citizens who do as they wish may incite trouble when they encroach on other people’s rights and freedom.
Thus, it is imperative that citizens in a democracy act in a responsible manner.
