what is the difference between Bromine and Bromide?

Bromine is basically an element with no electrical charge. but when it gains an electron to complete it's octet it becomes a negatively charged ion named bromide....hope it helps you

Arshippk13: if that so then why does Bromide have a valency of -1 and not 0 since the octet is completely filled
