carbocation means that carbon which carry partial positve charge

carboanion means that carbon which carry partial negative charge.

  • Carbocation is an electron deficient species whereas Carboanion is an electron rich species

  • In Carbocation the central carbon atom possesses six electrons in its outermost shell whereas in Carboanion The central carbon atom possesses eight electrons in its outermost shell.

  • Carbocation's shape is triangular planner whereas Carboanion's shape is pyramidal.
