Confidence has a common meaning of a certainty about handling something, such as work, family, social events, or relationships.

A confident person is comfortable in their own skin. They don’t feel the need to prove themselves, or the need to want others to approve of them. They have more of a positive outlook on life, and are willing to learn from everyone they meet. They know their strengths and weaknesses and are not intimidated by the feedback from others.

On the other hand, arrogant people seem to be confident but their thoughts and interactions with others are rooted in insecurity. They have a need to “one-up”, or to prove that they are right. Arrogant people have a hard time getting feedback and constructive criticism. They feel that their thoughts and decisions are superior, compared to those around them. Many arrogant people are successful, however their success has come at the cost of broken or strained relationships.
