what is the difference between cos(-x) and -cosx

In cos(-x) the angle is negative where as in -cosx angle is positive.

In cos(-x), Since angle is negative (<0°) It belongs to Quadrant IV 
{∵ Negative angles ∈ Quadrant IV)

Where as -cosx may belongs to either Quadrant II or Quadrant III as it is positive in both first and fourth quadrants.
