What is the difference between covalent and ionic bond

the covalent bond is a bond in which sharing of electron occurs and ionic or electrovalent bond is a bond in which transfer of electrons occurs.

When the valence electrons are shared between two atoms it is known as covalent bond. When electrons are transfered between two atoms it is know as ionic bond
