What is the difference between crude oil and petroleum ? I am in 8th std , so pl suse simple words to explain.... Thanks in advance

crude oil is the mixture of hydrocarbons that exists as a liquid in underground geologic formations and remains a liquid when brought to the surface.

Petroleum is the broad category that includes both crude oil and petroleum products the terms oil and petroleum are something used interchangeably. petroleum was drilled out from its source and was sent for refined in factories.

The refining process gives us kerosene ,Petrol,diesel ,Chemicals ,etc. Petroleum is easy to store and to transport.
